- Abstract
Relations between crystal type, particle size and mechanical sensitivities of dihydroxylammonium 5,5’-bistetrazole-1,1’-diolate (HATO) made by different production methods were analysized. Results showed that impact sensitivities of HATO flake-like is higher, but friction sensitivity of HATO with different morphology and particle size is similar on statistics.HATO by milling process possesses higher impact sensitivity and lower friction sensitivity than before. HATO mixture with ETPE has higher impact sensitivity and higher friction sensitivity than pure HATO. Graphite lowers HATO’s impact sensitivity and friction sensitivity significantly.Loading density, gap between impact columns, and explosive’s friction factor influence production of “hot spot”,thus influence explosive’s impact sensitivity. Evaluating mechanical sensitivities with current equipments is limited, and novel equipment should be designed to evaluate explosive’s real mechanical sensitivities.
