- Abstract
Scabies is an itchy skin disease caused by Sarcoptes scabiei var. hominis, an obligate human parasite. Scabies, one of the most pruritic dermatoses worldwide, is a clinical condition characterized by polymorphic rash and superinfections, as well as intense irritation, especially at night. It is estimated that there are about 300 million cases worldwide annually. There may be diagnostic difficulties due to the complexity in detecting the agent and the atypical clinical presentation. In our case, a 3 years 9 months old female patient was admitted to our outpatient clinic with a complaint of severe itching and rash all day in her body for 2 months. The patient, whose medical history was taken and examined, was diagnosed with scabies and treated. By this case report, we aimed to draw attention to the common but frequently overlooked scabies disease.
