- Abstract
The article discusses research which examines whether immunohistochemistry for the transcription factor ERG could distinguish cutaneous angiosarcoma from potential histological mimics. The study indicated the significant role of immunohistochemistry for ERG in supporting the diagnosis of cutaneous angiosarcoma of the neck and head. It revealed that ERG shows strong, diffuse nuclear staining in all angiosarcoma cases and is a highly sensitive and specific marker for cutaneous angiosarcoma.
