- Abstract
The article describes the histological and electron microscopic findings from five unscheduled biopsies taken up to two years after adult stem cells (ASC) implantation to provide further support for the safety of ASC therapy. It notes that biopsy specimens were taken from the external fistula opening of two female and three male participants in the phase II study. It further states that chronic inflammatory infiltrate and weak scar tissue with granuloma formation were revealed.
