- Abstract
The objective of this research was to conduct a brief diagnosis of the resources available to promote accounting research in Mexico. Data was collected from secondary sources such as public and private organizations, academic and scientific institutions, and professionals related to accounting in the Mexican context. Through a descriptive analysis, it was possible to identify educational programs in accounting, research groups formed in higher education institutions, professional organizations, Mexican scientific journals that publish accounting topics, international journals that publish scientific articles on accounting, and researchers in accounting topics. The main findings reveal 103 undergraduate programs in accounting, 70 graduate programs, and nine doctoral programs in accounting and related topics. Additionally, 18 consolidated academic groups that cultivate research lines in accounting and associated topics were identified, and 35 journals that publish accounting topics, of which only five are indexed in Scopus or Conacyt. Only 3 Conacyt recognized researchers investigate accounting topics. Finally, there are also important professional organizations that support accounting research.
