- Title
Who Pays for the United Nations' Torts?: Immunity, Attribution, and "Appropriate Modes of Settlement".
- Authors
Lewis, Patrick J.
- Abstract
The article discusses various forms of recourse for torts committed by the United Nations (UN) as of January 2014, focusing on immunity for the international agency, as well as information about several "appropriate modes of settlement." Efforts to limit immunity based on the right of access to court and the lack of functional necessity are addressed, along with the internal dispute resolution procedures at the UN. Diplomatic immunities, UN peacekeeping forces, and the UN Charter are examined.
