- Title
Long-term Effects of the Perinatal Environment on Energy Homeostasis and Offspring Obesity.
- Authors
Levin, Barry E.
- Abstract
The article discusses a study on the long-term effects of the perinatal environment on energy homeostasis and offspring obesity in rats. In the study, researchers selectively bred rats to develop diet-induced obesity (DIO) or to be diet-resistant (DR) when fed a high fat diet. The study observed that early onset exercise for only 3 weeks prevents DIO rats from becoming obese on a high fat diet.
