- Title
Mucolytics as Adjuvant Agent to Improve Helicobacter pylori Eradication Rate: Still Long and Winding Road to Positive Results.
- Authors
Hyuk Yoon; Dong Ho Lee
- Abstract
The authors reflect on the effect of mucolytics such as pronase as adjuvant agent for improving the eradication rate of first-line therapy for Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infections. They explore a study by Bang and colleagues on the effect of pronase on standard triple therapy for H. pylori infection in which results are in conflict with another study. They suggest that further in-depth studies are needed on the clinical efficacy of biofilm formed by H. pylori and antibiofilm agents.
