- Abstract
The article presents a simple chemistry scheme for the Chemical Lagrangian Model of the Stratosphere (CLaMS) for simulating carbon monoxide (CO) and long-lived trace substances in the lower tropical stratosphere. It highlights the variations in the ratio of trace gases from troposhere that enter the stratosphere. It notes that CO has sources at the surface of the Earth mostly from biomass burning and incomplete combustion of fossil fuels.
