- Abstract
The article presents information on the skeletal anatomy of Liotyphlops albirostris. The surprising discovery of two orbital bones in Anomalepis, elements which are completely lacking in Typhlops, suggested the presence of further relatively primitive characters in the lesser known genera of Typhlopidae. Liotyphlops, like Anomalepis, shows a series of remarkable morphological features. Not only does it possess orbital bones, but it also retains a well developed ectopterygoid and a minute tabular in contradistinction from Typhlops.
