Intimate partner violence against women in slums in India.
- Authors
Sabri, Bushra; Campbell, Jacquelyn C.
- Abstract
The authors critique several studies on socio-demographic factors related to intimate partner violence among women from India's urban slums. Topics include how violence against women is a significant health problem in India, findings of the Indian National Family Health Survey (NFHS-3) on intimate partner violence, the barriers faced by abused women from the slums in obtaining support and services. It is explained why a large scale study that is based on a socio-contextual framework is needed.
