- Abstract
Presents a study that examines the changes in song patterns of humpback whales, or Megaptera novaeangliae. Change in the song of humpbacks in the Pacific Ocean near Australia as a result of the introduction of small numbers of Indian Ocean inhabitants; Opinion that the change in song is revolutionary rather than evolutionary; Conclusion that novelty drives changes in humpback whale song.
