- Abstract
Evolutionary thinking should be taught as a program that integrates the living and that offers explanations in different areas of human life, however, this is not the case. In México, High school is the last formal level for the scientific literacy of citizen, who could understand several important issues such as antibiotic resistant bacteria, difficulties encountered controlling pandemics, such as HIV, understand the origin and transformation of viruses, such as SARS-CoV 19, and so on. Considering the relevance of this issue, the aim of this work is to identify the concordance between the expected constructivist learnings of biological evolution in the study plans of basic education (secondary and high school) and the evaluation instruments used, through the analysis of the questions formulated in the test guides for Baccalaureate admission. The methodology was based on making a review of the current study plans; as well as origin, basis, and guidelines of the admission exam carried out by CENEVAL. Questions about evolutionary thinking were collected from: Guía del Examen Nacional de Ingreso a la Educación Media Superior (EXANI-I) 2019, Guía 2019 para preparar para el examen de selección para ingresar a la educación media superior (UNAM), and, Guía interactiva del concurso de asignación a la Educación Media Superior de la Zona Metropolitana de la Ciudad de México (COMIPEMS) 2019. Questions complexity level was analysed according to Taxonomy of educational objectives. (Bloom, 1975). Based on the results, it has been identified that there is a huge discordance between the expected learnings on biological evolution and the questions formulated to evaluate in the only admission test to access a Baccalaureate degree in Mexico.
