- Authors
Fraser, Marsha Amoy; Melillo, Christine
- Abstract
The article discusses a systematic review of the methodologies employed in six published cost analyses examining expansion of advanced practice registered nurses (APRN) scope of practice (SOP) in providing primary care. Topics covered include savings associated with expanded SOP, the failure of the studies to examine cost savings for the patient, and findings of the studies which show that the expansion of the SOP could decrease healthcare costs, especially for the states.
