- Abstract
A new, efficient extraction chromatography method was developed for separating Np from Am in nitric acid solution. While Am in 0.1 M HNO was loaded on the HDEHP extraction chromatographic column, Np passed through the column and was collected. Am was eluted from the column using 1 M HNO and stocked for milking again. A process based on second-milking was recommended in the present work to prepare high purity Np tracer. The separation procedure is rapid and effective, and the radiochemical purity of Np higher than 99.98 % makes it is suitable for the preparation of Np tracer which can be used for determination of ultra level Np in the environment.
