- Abstract
This study carried out a cross-sectional survey based on questionnaires (COHIP and orthodontic) on 114 teenage students with/without orthodontic treatment, from a public urban college from North-East of Romania (Suceava) with different socio-economic status, in order to assess the impact of self-reported oral health on the quality of life and to investigate the motivations for starting the orthodontic treatment. The results showed significant differences between the groups of students and the psycho-social discriminatory impact of oral health perception on the quality of life. The major factor in starting the orthodontic treatment was facial aesthetics associated with social attractiveness.
