- Abstract
Faecal calprotectin is a non-invasive biomarker reflecting intestinal inflammation predominantly in inflammatory bowel disease, although elevated levels are often seen in children with juvenile polyps (JP). Histology confirmed the diagnosis of inflammatory JP in four out of six patients, whereas cap polyps were diagnosed in the remaining two patients. FC was significantly higher in patients with JP compared to children with normal ileocolonoscopy ( I P i < 0.001), whereas non-significant difference was found between children with JP and those with active IBD ( I P i = 0.62).
