- Abstract
The article reports on the developments in the U.S. Department of Education. It is announced that the Department has a new secretary in the person of Ame Duncan from Chicago, Illinois, with wide professional experiences and strong relationship with President Barack Obama. It highlights the significance of the Head Start funding for educational quality and finance. It also stresses the importance of corrections and juvenile justice in the general aid to state governments. Meanwhile, it states the need to widen the HOPE tax credit program that can aid in the costs of higher education.
