- Abstract
The applicability of the linear Darcy's law for predicting the dependency of the filtration rate on the air pressure drop in nonwoven needle-punched fabrics is evaluated. The structural boundaries of the use of the linear filtration law, which is designed to calculate the air filtration rate in fabrics with a surface and bulk density of more than 0.5 kg/m2 and 130 kg/m3, respectively, are established. The possibility of using standard approaches developed for calculating the filtration coefficient of liquids in porous systems for predicting the filtration coefficient of air in nonwoven fabrics is investigated. The necessity of correcting the coefficients of the models, which reflect the dependency of the permeability coefficient on the cross sectional shape of the capillaries or the coefficient of porosity, is shown.
