- Authors
Com, Gulnur; Einen, Mali A.; Jambhekar, Supriya
- Abstract
The authors discuss the challenging diagnosis of narcolepsy with cataplexy in children. They reveal that narcolepsy in childhood is often underdiagnosed and underrecognized because it may present with atypical features and is very rare. They add that cataplexy is a very specific symptom but may not develop in the disease's initial years and poor attention and concentration due to sleepiness in class may lead to false diagnosis of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in older children.
