- Abstract
Purpose: The study aims to examine the impact of distance learning (e-learning) on employability, in a context marked by rapid technological changes and employment challenges. Approach: Through a systematic literature analysis, using content analysis technique. Results: The research addresses how technology and digitalization are transforming the job market. However, it identifies a mismatch between these transformations and the qualification of the available workforce. Originality/relevance: Thus, preliminary results indicate that e-learning has significant potential to improve employability, although there are challenges, such as companies’ hesitation to hire graduates from e-learning programs and the inadequacy in teaching soft skills. Nevertheless, e-learning presents itself as a crucial tool for continuing education, particularly for those facing barriers to traditional education. Theoretical contributions: This research presents a framework focused on the design of effective e-learning tools, encompassing aspects of andragogy and cognitive and behavioral aspects. Practical contributions: This paper contributes to the understanding of the complex relationship between educational technologies and employability in a constantly changing world.
