- Title
Superlubricity: Seen at the macroscale for the first time.
- Authors
Canter, Neil
- Abstract
The article focuses on ways to achieve superlubricacy at macroscale level to improve machine efficiency. Topics discussed include efforts of Subramanian Sankaranarayanan, a nanoscientist at Argonne National Laboratory, to achieve zero fiction by sliding a nickel surface against diamond-like carbon (DLC), use of nanodiamond particles in simulations to stabilize the nanoscrolls, and efforts to determine supelubricacy occurring in the presence of moisture requiring use of polytetrafluoroethylene.
