The article reviews standards and best practices regarding eating and drinking in school science laboratories. Topics include the standards for eating and drinking in laboratories from sources such as The National Research Council’s "Prudent Practices in the Laboratory" and the New York City Department of Education’s "Science Safety Manual: Grades K–12," reasons not to eat and drink in the laboratories, and strategies schools can implement to prevent eating and drinking in laboratories.
