- Abstract
In this article the author presents a general overview of the history of medieval Europe, before discussing the impact of chivalry on sport and physical training during the period. Sport in this era was a pursuit for the elites and came to be associated with the knightly class. The sporting activities they participated in were jousts, swimming, falconry, hunting, horsemanship and boxing.
