- Title
THE BLANK SPACE IN SHAKESPEARE'S WILL.
- Authors
MacDonald, Roger A.
- Abstract
The article focuses on the reason for blank spaces in the will made by English Dramatist William Shakespeare. There is general agreement that when Shakespeare revised his will on March 25, 1616 he was seriously ill. It is curious that after numerous corrections and interlineation in the will a single blank space should remain. According to the author, there is something deeper behind this particular lapse and that there is a perfectly plausible, yet heretofore unrecognized, explanation for it. The author concludes that Shakespeare's distress over Judith's marriage to Thomas Quiney seems a more likely explanation for the blank spaces.
