- Abstract
NUMEROUS recent observations, both biological and chemical, have indicated that deoxyribonucleic acid is very probably the substrate which serves to store and transport genetic information. The initial formulation of this hypothesis brought forth a variety of structural speculations aimed at linking the biological role of deoxyribonucleic acid to its molecular structure. The most interesting and successful model was proposed by Crick and Watson1; it has since been supported by many other studies.
