- Abstract
PICS are therapeutic resources used with a view to recovering health and preventing injuries. Its use involves active and humanized listening with a view to establishing the therapeutic link between the individual and the environment in which he is inserted. To highlight, in the light of the scientific literature, complementary therapies in labor and delivery, highlighting the benefits for health care. This is an integrative literature review. The articles were selected from February to March 2023 in the following databases: Medline, BDENF, Lilacs and Google Scholar. Criteria for inclusion of pre-selected articles were scientific articles, available in full, published from 2018 to 2023, in Portuguese. The following were excluded: theses, dissertations and monographs, editorials, case studies, in addition to repeated publication of studies in more than one database, as well as articles that did not respond to the guiding question of the study. The importance of complementary therapies and interventions that can give pregnant women and parturients a humanized labor without drug therapies was highlighted. The described results indicate that the use of PICs in combination, or not, are extremely beneficial. This finding leads us to encourage the use of such therapies by professionals who participate in childbirth and pregnancy care, since their beneficial effects have been evidenced, and because they are therapies that do not require high investment in resources and are easy to apply. in most birthing centers across the country.
