Describes several cases encountered in psychiatric practice in which herpetic involvement of the trigeminal nerve appeared to be crucial to the pathophysiology of the patients' illness. Trigeminal neuralgia and tic douloureux; Pain-related electrochemical stimuli projected by all three branches of the trigeminal nerve; Parkinson's disease attributed to depletion of dopamine within the brain.
