- Abstract
This paper discusses Vygotski's thought in its contradictions and development. It is pointed out that his work does not represent a concluded system. In this analysis it is emphasized the systemic character of his work by putting the accent in some topics and categories that to some extent have been overlooked by Soviet and Russian psychologies, as well as by the Western psychology. Among these overlooked subjects emerge the place of emotions in human psyche, the generative character of emotions, fantasy and personality, which were central at the beginning and final moments of his work. Additionally, two concepts are presented and discussed: sense and “perechivanie". Both represent a Vygotski's theoretical attempt to move forward in the study of connections between cognitive and affective processes, making visible his concerns about a social mechanical determinism of social facts on psyche. The mentioned topics become a key focus at the end of his life. The implications of these topics for psychology have been disregarded until very recent times.
