- Title
Type 2 diabetes may slow thinking ability early on.
- Abstract
The article focuses on the result of a research conducted at the University of Alberta, Canada, which concluded that the type 2 diabetes disease process causes early damage to mental functioning. Participants' overall thinking ability were examined via series of tests on memory, verbal skills, mental processing speed, and reasoning. Results show that type 2 diabetes patients manifest impairment in executive function and mental processing speed. However, these findings are not related to age.
