- Abstract
The article presents information on allergic contact dermatitis from spironolactone. Spironolactone is widely used as a diuretic and antiandrogen. Topical preparations containing spironolactone have recently been introduced for treating acne vulgaris. Adverse skin reactions to systemic spironolactone have been reported. A recent case report concerned a patient sensitized by topical spironolactone prescribed for androgenetic alopecia. Disseminated lupus-erythematous-like or lichenoid eruptions have also been reported.
