- Abstract
Cerumenex® is an eardrop preparation widely used for wax removal. Several cases of contact sensitization to it have been reported, inspite of this, allergic contact dermatitis from Cerumenex® rarely occurs in childhood. The article presents information on an eight-year-old girl referred for the development for a severe itching eczematous dermatitis of her left ear, cheek, pinna and neck. The dermatitis subsided after medicament removal and topical steroid therapy. Among various components used to prepare Cerumenex® triethanolamine fatty acid polypeptides are widely used as surfactants and stabilizers in shampoos, cleansers and some medicaments.
