The Easy Success of the Spanish Model for Organ Transplantation.
- Authors
Costas-Lombardía, Enrique; Fereres Castiel, José
- Abstract
The authors reflect on the discussion regarding the application of "Spanish Model" on organ transplantation, which has been established by Organ Procurement Agencies (OPAs) in 1972. The authors mention the procedures of the said model in terms of payments for transplant teams and specialists, and for organ donors. Moreover, the authors discuss the ways on how "Spanish Model" affects public healthcare in terms of the absence of altruism, inequalities on jobs, and financial irresponsibility.
