- Abstract
Introduction: Elbow region deformities require early physiotherapy and rehabilitation and might potentially result in functional deficits in people's lives. Following adequate debridement, the region needs to be reconstructed with a thin, pliable, richly vascularized, nonetheless a durable flap that has the ability to endure external pressures. Case Presentations: In our clinic, we utilized posteriorly based thoracolumbar interpolation flaps to reconstruct such elbow defects in 3 patients where reconstructing with classic techniques were not preferred due to patient's age or general condition of the extremity or the patient. Discussion: Several methods may be chosen in such patients including, primary closure, skin graft, local flap, pedicled flap or free flaps. Posteriorly based thoracolumbar interpolation flaps are preferable in such defects due to the fact that donor site deformity is hidden under the arm in anatomical position and flap survival is reliable since it is a 2 staged operation. Conclusion: This conventional technique may be classified as a life-saving method in carefully chosen patient groups.
