- Abstract
The report of paradoxical adverse events (PAEs) has emerged with the increased use of biologic agents (BAs).[1] PAEs are defined as the occurrence during biologic therapy of a disease that usually responds to such therapy.[1] In recent years, BAs have been used for treating hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) and, consequently, reports on paradoxical HS have started to emerge. Paradoxical HS was assumed when the HS onset occurred under biologic therapy, originally prescribed for another condition, and the latter remained under control. Five of the 121 HS patients fulfilled paradoxical HS criteria (Table 1).
