Lee, Sang Hee; Roh, Mi Ryung
- Abstract
The article focuses on the case of a 26-day-old female infant diagnosed with neonatal lupus erythematosus (NLE), a rare autoimmune disorder caused by transplacental transfer of maternal autoantibodies and characterized by cutaneous lesions, heart block and hepatobiliary disease. Topics discussed include the suggestion from Gleason and colleagues on how the disease represents an under-recognized variant of lupus erythematosus.
