- Authors
Kuehn, Bridget M.
- Abstract
This article presents a look at a vote by the United States Food and Drug Administration advisory committee that determined that antidepressants should extend black box warnings, such as those that have an increased risk of suicidal thoughts and behaviors in children, adolescents, and young adults. According to the article, the panel also voted that such drugs should include information on why it is important to treat depression and emphasize the risks associated with depression that goes untreated. A chart is presented that shows suicidal behavior risks of antidepressants.
