- Abstract
Esential tremor (ET) is the most frequent of the tremors and is present in 22% of the population that is over 65 years old. It is more frequent that Parkinson is and may cause physical discapacity and psicological problems. Has social variations also are incidence is 18 for 100,000. It's an autosomic dominant with varied expression, small penetrance and multiple ethiologys. It is familiar in 50 to 60% of the cases. Might be postural 26% or of action 49% affecting hand 94% head 26% voice 16% legs 11% and tongue 3%. Might improve or disapear with small dosis of alcohol and has been attributed to lesions in every point of the central nervous system, and might be associated with migraine or vertigo. The diagnosis is clinic and the treatment betabloquers, primidona, nicardipina.[sic]
