The authors comment on the article "Twice-Daily Oral Zinc in the Treatment of Patients With Coronavirus Disease 2019: A Randomized Double-Blind Controlled Trial" by S. B. Abdallah, Y. Mhalla and I. Trabelsi which appeared in the 2023 issue. Topics include the potential role of micronutrients in disease therapy, studies that can provide evidence on the efficacy of any COVID-19 treatment with micronutrients and the beneficial effect of the intervention with dietary zinc on COVID-19 patients.
