- Abstract
The article discusses wrongful conviction claims under Title 42, Section 1983 of the U.S. Code which deals with civil rights, including an analysis of several causes of wrongful convictions such as false confessions, prosecutorial misconduct, and the mishandling of forensic evidence. There is reportedly an increase in the number of § 1983 actions which are being instituted based on violations of the suppression of evidence ruling in the 1963 U.S. Supreme Court case Brady v.
