- Abstract
The article offers information on the attribution, origin and significance of the daguerreotype photograph housed at the International Museum of Photography at George Eastman House in Rochester, New York. According to the author, the photographic plate measures six and a half by eight and a half wherein its horizontal image depicts a Japanese cemetery in a high quality and tonality which is contained in a decorative frame. Moreover, the author adds that the image was probably taken from 1848 which was identified as a Japanese cemetery and burial place of American soldiers under the expedition of Commodore Matthew Perry. Several photographs are presented which provide detailed information on the concept of the daguerreotype image.
