- Title
THEORIZING RELATIONAL POSSIBILITIES IN NARRATIVE THERAPY.
- Authors

- Abstract
This paper attempts a rethinking of the narrative therapeutic relationship through the concepts of internalization/externalization, discourse and subject positions. Elements of an immediate, here-and-now interactional approach are proposed, enabling exploration not only of the therapist's experience of being positioned by the client's narratives, but also of various relational unique outcomes likely to be experienced within the therapeutic relationship itself. These are alternative, albeit fleeting, positionings made available to the therapist by the client. Noticing and reflecting upon these experiences can allow clients to test out and inhabit more empowering self-positions, inside and outside of the consulting room.
