- Abstract
MRI chest is performed more frequently nowadays in patients with pneumonia and the knowledge of the T2 hypointense rim sign should alert the treating physician to investigate for possible pulmonary invasive mold infections. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) of the Chest showed a heterogeneous lesion in the right upper lobe which was hypo to hyperintense on T2 weighted images due to air-fluid contents, with peripheral "T2 hypointense rim sign" with adjacent hyperintense pleura and intercostal muscles suggesting the involvement of the chest wall (Fig. Contrast-enhanced Computed Tomography (CT) chest was performed which revealed a soft-tissue lesion with central necrosis and cavitation in the right upper lobe (Fig.
