- Title
Income Inequality and Psychiatric Admission in a Rich Country: Happiness Does Not Guarantee Mental Health Equity.
- Authors

- Abstract
On the other hand, social drift hypotheses predict that mental health problems lead to impairments in social and occupational functioning that, in turn, lead to a downward spiral into poverty. These findings indicate that despite a higher risk factor burden and lower access to quality mental health care in poorer countries, there is a lower prevalence of mental health problems, suggesting that some as yet undefined protective factors seem to operate in high-vulnerability countries.
