- Abstract
The article focuses on the study which discusses the activity and infection of prion seeding in the skin of patients with sporadic Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (sCJD). Topics include the use of Western blotting and real-time quaking-induced conversion (RT-QuIC) for prion protein (PrPSc) in humanized transgenic mice, the presence of prion seeding activity and infectivity in the skin of sCJD patients, and the possibility of the iatrogenic sCJD transmission through the skin.
