- Abstract
The article discusses a study which compared mediastinoscopy with endosonography for mediastinal nodal staging for patients with resectable non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The randomized controlled multicenter trial was conducted between February 2007 and April 2009 and involved 241 patients from several areas such as Ghent, Belgium and Leiden, the Netherlands. Greater sensitivity for mediastinal nodal metastases was demonstrated by a staging strategy that combined endosonography and surgical staging.
