- Abstract
Due to the complexity of the cardiovascular system, examination by help contrast medium needs to be performed selectively, according to the morphological disposition and localization of the alteration. Therefore, one can perform angiocardiography (radiography of the heart chambers and of the vessels at its base), arteriography (radiography of certain arterial segments), and phiebography (the radiography of different veins or venous segments of different calibers). Arteriography with non ionic contrast medium in dogs allows: the visualization of the trajectory, caliber, uniformity, wall thickness or existence of obstacles in arteries (thrombosis) and tumors of blood vessels (hemangiomas). Arterial catheterism with special probes can be performed in all types of arteries indifferent of caliber and has both a diagnosis aim and treatment aim in blood clotting or atheroma that might block circulation in a certain territory [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]. Clinical and paraclinical examination of the vascular system will include inspection, palpation, auscultation, graphic recordings, radiodiagnosis, ultrasound, measuring arterial pressure, catheterism and Doppler technique [6, 7,8].
