The article discusses the need to create beneficial social policies to eliminate punitive rhetoric and harm amidst the contrasting views and actions of the organizations Blue Lives Matter and Black Lives Matter in the U.S. Topics include the killing of police officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu that led to the creation of the Blue Lives Matter movement and the laws enacted to increase punishment on crimes against the police.
