- Abstract
A report is presented which discusses how Cape gannets at Malgas Island, South Africa are affected by the decline in stocks of sardines and anchovies in the region due to commercial fishing. Cameras were attached to the birds to study their interaction with fishing vessels. It was found that since the 2009 fishing quota of the purse-seine fleet had been caught by November, the gannets had exclusive access to several sardine shoals.
