- Title
Biology: Shell shocker.
- Abstract
The article reports on the research made by Geoffrey Birchard of George Mason University in Virginia and Charles Deeming of Great Britain regarding bird eggs in 2009. It states that they conclude that eggshells must be strong in order to avoid being crushed when birds sit on them and they must not be too strong that the chicks could not break out of their shells. It cites that they found out that eggs are bigger, but have thinner shells, because there are only few males that incubate eggs.
